  2. PC Games in India will start to get more expensive now, so if a PC game was originally sold for ₹1,299, it will now cost ₹2,400 on Steam.Madhav Banka | Published 26 Oct 2022 18:19 IST Valve has updated the regional pricing for Steam games for various countries including India. This means, that PC Games in India will start to get more expensive now, so if a PC game was originally sold for ₹1,299, it will now cost ₹2,400 on Steam. Let’s first take a detailed look at what exactly is regional pricing and how does it work? How Does Regional Pricing Work? In case you’re not aware of how regional pricing for video games works, Steam sells games in 39 different worldwide currencies, so it can be hard for the publishers to set the prices for their games. So for this reason, Valve offers a regional pricing recommendation tool which automatically suggests prices for various regions. With the recent updates, it has become even easier for PC developers to just accept a quick conversion. This regional pricing tool is purely based on a developer's chosen base USD price and the developers are not required to follow the recommendations set by Valve. This is the main reason why some of the games that come at the same prices in the US might differ in other countries like India. How Does This Affect PC Games Becoming More Expensive? As for how PC Games prices might get affected, if a certain developer followed the regional pricing recommendation set by Valve, the prices for their games can now be increased. This sudden change is due to evolving foreign currency exchange rates against the USD. The prices of existing PC games on Steam as well as upcoming titles may increase in the coming months. For instance, Half-Life: Alyx, which is priced at $60 in the US, was previously priced at ₹1,299 in India. However, with the recent regional pricing changes made by Valve, the same game now costs ₹2,400. In an official post, Valve said, “With purchasing power and foreign exchange rates constantly evolving, we needed to make significant changes to those conversion recommendations to stay current.” https://www.digit.in/news/gaming/valve-increases-regional-pricing-for-pc-games-on-steam-65795.html

  4. Iran security forces reportedly opened fire on protesters at a cemetery near Kharamabad after one of the biggest nights of anti-government unrest. Unrest has rocked the country since Mahsa Amini died in police custody 40 days ago after allegedly wearing her Islamic headscarf "improperly". Protests were also held outside government buildings in Mahabad. One male protester was shot dead in that city and another in Sanandaj, according to a human rights group. The BBC has not been able to verify the report by the Hengaw group. Demonstrators had gathered at the cemetery near Kharamabad to mourn Nika Shakarami, who disappeared soon after Ms Amini's death and became another symbol of the protest movement. Videos from Kharamabad showed protesters chanting anti-state slogans including "down with the dictator", a reference to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Security forces opened fire on the protesters, a source close to her family told BBC Persian. On Wednesday night, tens of thousands of people had taken to the streets in major cities, as well as other places where demonstrations had subsided recently. It is the most serious challenge to the Islamic Republic since its inception. The Islamic Republic of Iran has seen protests before. But not like this. The authorities are still trying to dismiss and discredit them as "rioters influenced by foreigners". It's hard to square that with extraordinary images of teenage schoolgirls rejecting obligatory headscarves, of women of all ages walking bare-headed in public spaces. It's hard, too, to see Iran returning to days where so-called morality police can police women's dress the way they've done for decades. This is now about more, much more, than what women wear. In the past, major uprisings have fizzled out, or were forcibly suppressed, after months of unrest. But, with every week, this wave seems to strengthen. The full force of Iran's security apparatus has yet to be unleashed. The authorities will do whatever it takes to preserve the Islamic Republic. But Iran's protesters, especially a new generation of women and men, also seem ready to do whatever it takes to change their lives, and much more. Norway-based Iran Human Rights says at least 234 protesters, including 29 children, have been killed by security forces in crackdowns so far. Iran's leaders have portrayed the unrest as "riots" fomented by foreigners. Footage posted on social media and verified by the BBC show widespread protests on Wednesday night. Other cities, such as Andimeshk and Borujerd in the west, and Lahijan, near the Caspian Sea in the north, also saw a resurgence of protests. The upsurge came after a day on which police are reported to have opened fire on protesters in Saqqez, home city of Ms Amini. Thousands had gathered to mark 40 days since her death. A rights group and witnesses said officers fired live rounds and tear gas at the crowds in the city. Numbers of casualties are not known. "The society is very angry. We had enough of them [Iranian leadership]," a 27-year-old female protester in Karaj, close to Tehran, told BBC Persian. "I want to have the right to say no to these people. I'm tired of being a second-class citizen. Because I am a woman. Men are tired of the intimidations by the regime. This is the first time in the history of our country that we stand together for a goal which is woman, life and freedom." West punishes Iran's feared morality police Iran's Generation Z are paying the ultimate price A really simple guide to Iran's protests Protests swept across Iran after Ms Amini, 22, died on 16 September. She had been detained three days earlier by the morality police in Tehran and fell into a coma after collapsing at a detention centre. There were reports that officers had beaten her with a baton and banged her head against a vehicle, but police denied she had been mistreated and said she had suffered a heart attack. The BBC and other independent media are banned from reporting from inside Iran, making state media and other reports hard to verify. Authorities have also heavily disrupted the internet, hampering the ability of protesters to post on social media. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-63410577

  7. Women's sport in Colombia continues to give joy. After what was done by the U-17 team in India, we remember other achievements of women who have enhanced the name of the country. The sub-17 demonstrates the future that Colombia has in women's football. This year, the Tricolor, in seniors, was runner-up in the Copa América, and the U-20s reached the quarterfinals at the World Cup in Costa Rica. PHOTOS: COURTESY FCF, AFP, COLPRENSA AND EL COLOMBIANO The Colombian Under-17 National Team, first in the different categories of national football, both for women and men, which qualifies for a World Cup final, recalls other great feats that the women of the country have achieved throughout history in athletic activity. This Sunday, in India, starting at 9:30 a.m., the pupils guided by Carlos Paniagua, from Antioquia, will seek, against Spain, to continue writing golden pages as did other compatriots that we present below. The athlete from Antioquia became the first woman from Colombia to obtain an Olympic medal. It happened on August 5, 1992 in Barcelona, where she won bronze in the specialty of the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.64 seconds, which is still a South American record. Her role in the sport has been so valuable that since 2019 she has served as Vice President of the World Athletics. https://www.elcolombiano.com/deportes/grandes-gestas-del-deporte-femenino-en-colombia-mundial-sub-17-CH18970714
